Sarah’s been having some issues getting emails out to this list, so I’m gonna send this one on her behalf!
Applications have opened to be a Feds delegate at the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA) Fall General Assembly!
What is OUSA, you ask? OUSA is a provincial-focused government relations organization that lobbies MPPs and Government Ministers on student issues! Feds is a member (and a cofounder), and as such gets a seat on OUSA’s Steering Committee/Board of Directors, alongside representatives from Brock, Laurier, Laurentian, McMaster, Queens, Trent-Durham, and Western. These 7 schools (and us) work together to lobby the government on substantive, student-driven, and evidence-based policy recommendations.
The General Assembly is a critical part of OUSA. It is the convergence of student leaders from each member school for the purpose of discussing and debating policy and advocacy priorities for OUSA over the next few months (and years). This Fall, the General Assembly will be setting OUSA’s policy priorities relating to Sexual Violence Prevention on University Campuses, Ancillary Fees, and Rural & Northern Students.
This Fall’s Assembly will take place at Western University from November 4th-6th (we travel there on the evening of Thursday the 3rd). All costs associated with transportation, accommodation, and food will be covered for delegates.
If you are interested in being a delegate, apply on LEADS<https://leads.uwaterloo.ca/Advertisement/Details/1914> by 11:59 PM on October 9th.
If you know someone who would be interested in being a delegate, send them the link and tell them to apply!
If you want to learn more about OUSA, attend an info session hosted by Home Office staff this Wednesday September 22nd, from 1-2 or from 3-4 in SLC 2134/35.
If you are or know a student from a rural or northern area, OUSA is hosting focus group tomorrow from 3-4 in SLC 2143.
